A sacred return to the water.

The River Cleanse is a sacred practice rooted in the spiritual traditions, ancestral memory, and cultural wisdom of Black people. Water has long held a place of deep significance in our traditions; carrying prayers, cleansing the spirit, marking transitions, and creating space for renewal.

Because of this connection, the River Cleanse is intentionally held exclusively for Black women. This is not about exclusion for the sake of exclusion. It is about cultural preservation. It is about creating a space where a sacred practice can be experienced, understood, and honored without being separated from the people and traditions from which it comes.

At the river, we come together in sisterhood to release what has been carried too long. We cleanse the physical and spiritual residue of what no longer serves us. We honor what we have survived, reclaim what belongs to us, and make room for what is calling us forward.

⚠️ Important Note: Cleanse & Release ceremonies can be deeply intense emotional work. Releasing old patterns, grief, or trauma can bring up strong feelings in the moment, sometimes unexpectedly. It’s not unusual to cry, feel waves of anger, or experience physical sensations as energy shifts.
